Zp Architects

Our place is over at Shakti Arcade, shop F-23. If you know where the Odhav water tank is in Sola, we are right opposite that. It’s on Science City Road, which is always busy these days. Being architects means our desks are usually covered in blueprints and half-empty cups of chai. We spend a lot of time out at sites, getting dust on our shoes and making sure the builders are following the drawings. When we are back in the office, it’s all about the software and trying to make things fit into the spaces people have. Sola has changed a lot, and being right here in the middle of it is interesting. You see a lot of new things going up. Our office is a bit small, but it fits what we need. We’ve got those big tables for looking at large prints. Sometimes the internet acts up or the power goes out, but that’s just how it is in Ahmedabad sometimes. We talk to a lot of different people, from guys selling bricks to families wanting a new house. It’s not always easy, and there are plenty of long days where we are still here after the sun goes down. We don't do anything too fancy, just the work that needs doing. It’s a practical job and we try to treat it that way every single day we show up. There are no shortcuts when you are drawing up plans.
