Ahmedabad Chemicals

If you head down to Plot No. 406/2 in Phase-2 of GIDC, you will find Ahmedabad Chemicals. The first thing you notice when you get close is the particular smell of the warehouse. It is not bad, just something you get used to after working here for a week. We have drums stacked up almost to the ceiling in some parts of the shed. Moving them around takes some skill with the manual trolley. We have to be careful about the flooring because spills can happen if someone is rushing too much. Most of our day is spent checking batches and making sure the labels are stuck on straight. It is repetitive work, but it needs to be done right. The office upstairs gets a bit dusty because of the industrial activities all around us, so we are always wiping down the desks. We have a small staff, and we all know each other’s families by now. There is a lot of paperwork involved with chemicals, so someone is always stuck at the desk filling out forms for the inspectors. We don’t have a website or anything like that, we just rely on the people who have been buying from us for years. It is a simple operation, really. Just some guys in a shed making sure the orders go out on time every Friday. The floor is stained from years of work, but that is just the way it is.
