Umiya Hardware & Sanitary, also known as Umiya Corporation, is up on the upper level of Sagar Apartment. We are right across from the Sarthi Hotel on Vastrapur Road in the Bodakdev area. It is a busy spot and having the hotel right there makes it easy for people to find us. Since we are on the upper level, we get a decent view of the street, but it also means carrying things up and down can be a bit of a workout. We deal with hardware and sanitary items, so there are always toilets, taps, and pipes sitting around. It is not exactly a high-end showroom. It is more of a place where builders and homeowners come when they need parts for a project. The shelves are packed with boxes of screws, hinges, and all sorts of plumbing fixtures. We have a small counter where we write out bills by hand. The walls have some old calendars hanging on them and there is usually a stack of catalogs sitting on the floor. Bodakdev is a growing part of town, so there is always some construction happening nearby which keeps us on our toes. Sometimes the shop feels a bit small for everything we try to fit inside. We just try to keep things moving and help people find the right size of whatever they are looking for. It is a basic hardware store run by people who know where the tools are kept.
