The Metropole Hotel

The Metropole Hotel is located on First Street in Naranpura Vill. It’s an interesting part of Ahmedabad because you get a mix of the old village feel and the newer city life. I’ve been working here for a bit, helping out with whatever needs doing. Some days that means checking guests in at the front desk, and other days it's making sure the kitchen has what it needs. A hotel never really sleeps. There is always someone coming or going at odd hours. Our building at 871 is pretty easy to find once you get into the Naranpura area. The rooms are just standard rooms where people can get some rest. We have some regular guests who come every time they are in Gujarat for work. They know us by name and we know how they like their tea. It isn't a five-star palace, but we keep the sheets clean and the floors swept. Sometimes the elevator makes a weird noise, but it works fine. We spend a lot of time talking about the weather or the local cricket scores with the people staying here. It feels more like a big house than a corporate hotel. We just try to make sure folks have a place to stay that doesn't cost them too much and is close to where they need to be in the 380013 area. It’s a busy life but it is okay.
