Sterling Lam Ltd. is based right near the Manglam Cinema in Odhav. If you know that landmark, you can’t miss us. We work with laminates, which means we deal with a lot of big sheets of material that go on furniture and cabinets. It’s a bit of a process, keeping everything flat and out of the sun so it doesn't warp. The area around the cinema is always humming with people, so there is never a dull moment outside our doors. We’ve been at this for a while, just a group of us who know how to handle these surfaces without scratching them. It’s heavy work sometimes, but we’ve got a system down. We don't spend money on big ads or anything like that. Word usually gets around because we’ve been in Odhav for so long. People come in looking for a specific wood grain or a solid color for their new cupboards, and we show them what’s in the back. Sometimes the coffee machine breaks and we have to go down the street, but mostly we are just here, cutting samples or moving pallets. It’s a regular business run by regular people. We try to keep the floors swept, but with all the trimming and packing, there’s always a little bit of dust. That is just how a laminate place looks when work is getting done. We stay busy with the local trade and the furniture makers who come by.
