Our place is down in the cellar of Neptune Tower, which stays a bit cooler during those really hot Ahmedabad afternoons. Being right on Ashram Road means it is always noisy outside, especially with the traffic coming off Nehru Bridge just across from us. We have been running Shubham Medical Agencies from this spot for a while now. Most days are just spent moving boxes around and checking lists of what needs to go out to shops. It is not a fancy office or anything like that. There are stacks of medicine cartons everywhere and the lighting is a bit dim because we are underground, but it works for what we do. People sometimes have a hard time finding the stairs down to number 15, but once they know where we are, they just drop in. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for deliveries to arrive or for the couriers to pick up orders. Ashram Road is always moving, so there is never really a quiet moment until we close up for the night. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We keep the registers updated and try to stay on top of the stock. It’s a lot of routine work, checking dates and making sure the right packages get to the right people without too many mistakes happening in the middle of the day.
