Vama Fashion

If you haven't been to Ghee Kata before, it can be a bit of a maze with all the narrow lanes and old buildings. We are tucked away at 1152/449 in Dudhwali Pole. It’s right behind where the old Sandesh Press used to be, and near the old Kandya News spot too. Vama Fashion has been here for a long time, right in the middle of all this history. The building is old, with thick walls and small windows that look out onto the pole. It gets very crowded on the street outside with scooters and people walking everywhere. Inside, we have our work tables and piles of fabric for the latest fashion pieces we are putting together. There isn't much space to move around, but we have a system that works. The walls are covered in patterns we’ve used over the years. You can hear the neighbor's radio playing most of the day, mixed with the sound of our own machines. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the address on the door. People find us because they know the area or they’ve been coming here for years. It’s a bit dark inside sometimes, so we use a lot of lamps to see the fine work. By the time we close up, the street is still buzzing with activity. It’s a busy life here in the old part of the city, and we wouldn't know how to work anywhere else. It’s just what we do.
