Our factory is over at Plot No-384 in the G.I.D.C. area of Odhav. It’s right opposite the police chowky, which makes it easy to find for anyone coming to visit. Odhav is a busy industrial zone, so it’s always loud with the sound of machinery and trucks. At Shalini Apprel Pvt. Ltd., we don’t have a lot of time for sitting around. We are usually busy with the production line from the moment we open up. The plot is a good size for us, but it always feels a bit small once we get all the fabric and machines going. We’ve got a lot of people working here, mostly from the local neighborhood. It’s a lot of hard work, especially when the orders are piled up high. Being near the police chowky is a good landmark for us. The air in Odhav can be a bit heavy with all the industry around, but you get used to it after a while. We just focus on the garments. There’s no big corporate office here, just the shop floor and a small space for the paperwork. We eat our lunch quickly and get back to the machines. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but that’s the nature of the garment business. We keep the doors open for a bit of breeze when it gets too hot inside the building.
