Sarovar Portico

This building is located over in Hansol, specifically at house number 863 in the Khodiyar Krupa area. It’s right near the Sardarnagar part of Ahmedabad, which stays pretty busy because of the airport and all the traffic coming through. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place tidy and making sure the guests have what they need in their rooms. It’s a hotel, so the work never really stops; someone is always awake and someone is always working the desk. The kitchen starts early in the morning, and you can hear the pots and pans clanking before the sun is even up. We get a lot of travelers who are just passing through Gujarat or people here for work meetings in the city. The lobby isn't huge, but it's where everything happens. We have a lot of local staff from the surrounding neighborhoods who walk or bike to work. It’s a regular job for us. We deal with leaky faucets sometimes or light bulbs that burn out at the wrong time, just like any other building. The street outside can get dusty during the dry season, but we try to keep the entrance clean. We aren't trying to be the most famous place in India, we just want to make sure the beds are made and the food is hot. It’s a simple way to run a business, focusing on the basics and showing up every day.
