You can find us on the second floor of the Shrree Ghantakaran Market, which is unit I-204. We are right near the New Cloth Market in Sarangpur. Ahmedabad is famous for its fabric and this area is the heart of it all. At She Girl India, our day starts early because the market gets crowded by ten in the morning. Being on the second floor means we are constantly carrying rolls of cloth or bags of garments up and down the stairs. It is a workout. The market is loud, with people shouting prices and laborers moving heavy loads on their backs. Inside our space, things are a bit messy with fabric scraps and measuring tapes lying around. We spend a lot of time checking the stitching and making sure the colors are right. It is dusty and the fans never seem to be enough for the Ahmedabad heat. We do not have a fancy showroom. We just have shelves piled high with stock and a couple of tables for packing. Most of the people who come by are regular traders we have known for years. We drink our chai standing up because there is rarely a spare chair. It is just a basic operation where we focus on getting the clothes ready for the shops. We are just another small business trying to keep up with the fast pace of the Sarangpur market.
