Raj Chemicals

We are over at 23, Valkeshwar Society in Ambawadi. It’s easy to find because we are directly opposite Manekbaug Hall. If there is a wedding or a big event at the hall, the whole street gets blocked with cars and music. We’ve been here in Ahmedabad for quite some time now. Dealing with chemicals means we have to be careful with how we store everything in the shop. You might notice a bit of a sharp smell when you walk in, but that’s just the nature of the business. We have all sorts of containers and jars sitting on the shelves. It’s not a big corporate warehouse, just a local spot where people come to get what they need for their own small projects or factories. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time backing into our space because the road is narrow. We usually have a tea break around four in the afternoon when things slow down a bit. My father used to run this place before me. We haven't changed much since then. We still use the same old wooden desk and the same filing system. It works for us. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just supply the chemicals and try to make sure everyone gets the right grade for their work. It's a steady life. We like the neighborhood and the people who stop by.
