Pushpa Children'S Hospital & Critical Care Centre

Up on the second floor of the Nanakram Supermarket in Sabarmati, that’s where you’ll find us. It’s the Rhythm Child Developmental Centre part of Pushpa Children'S Hospital & Critical Care Centre. Being above a supermarket means there is always noise from the street and people doing their shopping downstairs. We have the hospital side and the developmental side here. It’s a bit of a walk up the stairs. We see a lot of kids who need help with how they are growing or learning. The rooms are basic. We have some toys and equipment scattered about for the children to use. It’s not always quiet. Sabarmati is a busy neighborhood and Ramnagar has its own rhythm, hence the name I guess. We spend the morning setting things up and the afternoon is usually full of appointments. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just how things are around here. We’ve got a small team. We know each other's coffee orders by now. People from around the area stop in, some we've known for years. It’s practical work. We don't spend money on big ads or anything like that. We just stay here in the building and wait for whoever needs us to come up to the second floor. It’s a steady life working with families and children in this part of town, dealing with the daily ups and downs of a local clinic.
