Prashanti Textile Corporation is over at D-43-Btm on Pur Road. It’s a place that’s basically built on fabric and thread. If you walk inside, you’re going to see stacks of cloth and rolls of material piled up everywhere you look. Pur Road is known for this kind of thing, so we fit right in with the rest of the neighborhood shops. The air in here is often filled with little bits of lint and the smell of new textiles, which you get used to after a while. It’s not a quiet place because there’s always someone cutting fabric or moving heavy rolls around the floor. We’ve got some old tables that have been scratched up from years of use, and the lighting isn't the brightest, but it works for seeing the patterns clearly. We spend our days measuring things out and making sure the colors match what was asked for in the order. It can get pretty hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the front of the building, so we rely on the overhead fans to keep things moving. There’s no corporate dress code here; we just wear what’s comfortable for moving around and lifting stuff. We’ve been on Pur Road for a good while, and we know most of the other shop owners nearby. It’s a community of people who work with their hands and their eyes. We just do our part, keeping the textile stacks moving along.
