Powerline Engineers

Out here in Waluj at M-43, it’s mostly just industrial sounds all day long. This part of the MIDC is always full of trucks and people moving parts around. We’ve been in this shed for a while now. The floor is usually a bit greasy because of the machines, no matter how much we try to sweep it up. It’s hard work being an engineer in this heat, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the metal roof. We have a small crew here. Everyone knows what they need to do when they walk in. Usually, the morning starts with checking the schedule and seeing what repairs are waiting for us. There isn't much to see if you're looking for a polished lobby. We have a couple of chairs for visitors, but mostly people are here to talk about technical stuff. The chai wala comes around twice a day and that’s when we actually take a break. Sometimes the parts we need take a few days to arrive, so things get a bit backed up. It's just the reality of running a shop like this. We don’t do much advertising. People find us because they need something fixed properly. It’s dusty and noisy, but it’s where we spend all our time. We keep the tools organized, or at least we try to, even when things get really busy and hectic during the peak season. Every day is a bit different but the noise stays the same.
