You’ll find us at number 3 in the Ekambaram Industrial Estate in Porur. It’s an industrial area, so there is always the sound of machinery or welding going on nearby. Our workshop is usually oily and smells like metal. We do engineering work, which basically means we spend our time fixing parts or making sure machines are running the way they should. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and most of our overalls have stains that won't come out. The estate gets a bit muddy when it rains, making it tricky for the lorries to get in and out of the yard. Inside, we have our lathes and tools spread out across the benches. We don't really have a front desk; you usually just walk in and find whoever isn't under a machine. Most of the guys here have been working with engines and power systems since they were kids. We take things apart, figure out what’s wrong, and put them back together. It’s simple, honest labor. Sometimes we stay late when a big project comes in, and we’ll order some food to eat while we work. We don't bother much with decorations or fancy signs.
