Working at Surat Ammonia & Chemical Co. means getting used to the specific environment of Vatva’s Phase-3. Our address is Plot No. 2018, and it is a place where we deal with chemicals and industrial supplies every day. It is not the kind of job you do if you are afraid of getting your hands a little dirty or dealing with the strong smells that come with the territory. The facility is older, but it works for what we need. We spend a lot of time checking valves and monitoring tanks to make sure everything is sitting where it should be. It is a serious job, but we talk to each other in a very casual way, like family almost. We do not go in for those polished pages that sound like a robot wrote them. We are just a group of guys in Vatva trying to make sure the deliveries go out on time. The traffic in Phase-3 can be a nightmare during the shift changes, so we have learned to time our logistics around the busiest hours. We keep the paperwork in the small front office and spend most of our time out on the floor. There is no grand vision here, just the daily reality of handling ammonia and other chemicals safely and getting them to the people who bought them. It is hard work, especially when the Ahmedabad sun is beating down on the metal roof, but we have been doing it a while.
