Patel Hardware Stores/Bhagyoday Hardware Store

Started the shop here in Ellisbridge a long time ago. It is right near V S Hospital, so we see a lot of people passing by all day. Most people just call us Patel Hardware, though some still use the Bhagyoday name. We mostly deal with tools and household stuff that people need when something breaks at home. It gets pretty crowded in the mornings because of the traffic near Mehta Garden. There are just three of us working here most days. We spend a lot of time moving heavy boxes around or helping someone find a specific size of screw that they can’t find anywhere else. The shelves are getting a bit old and dusty, but we know where everything is kept. Sometimes the rain comes in through the front door if we don't watch it. It’s a busy spot. People stop in while they are visiting the hospital or just walking through the garden area. We keep things pretty simple. No fancy displays or anything like that. Just racks of pipes, hammers, and buckets of paint stacked up in the corners. It’s hard work, especially when the heat gets bad in the summer, but it is what we do. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down. Most of our regulars are guys from the neighborhood who are fixing up their own houses. We just try to keep the stuff people actually use in stock and ready to go.
