Neelkamal Hotel

Neelkamal Hotel is up on the 5th floor of the Janpath Complex. We are right opposite the Capital Commercial Centre on Ashram Road. It is a very busy part of Ahmedabad, so there is always something happening outside. Being on the 5th floor means we are a bit away from the street noise, though you can still hear the honking if the windows are open. The elevator in this building is a bit slow and can be moody, so you have to be patient sometimes. I have worked here for several years now, and I have seen all sorts of people come through the doors. Mostly it is people in town for business since we are surrounded by offices. The rooms are not like what you would see in a magazine; they are just basic rooms with beds and the things you need. We try to keep everything tidy, but it is an old building, so it has its quirks. The lobby is small, and sometimes the reception desk gets piled up with paperwork. I usually spend my mornings checking the bookings and making sure the staff has what they need for the day. Ashram Road is always changing, with new shops and buildings going up all the time. We have stayed pretty much the same, though. It is a simple operation, really. We just provide a place to stay or eat right in the middle of the city's hustle.
