German Chemicals is situated at Plot No. 139 in Phase 2 of the Gidc. The name sounds a bit grand but we are just a regular local outfit. We handle various chemical mixtures and storage. The warehouse part of the building is quite tall to fit all the drums we have to keep in stock. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around with the pallet jack. The floor is made of thick concrete to handle the weight. We have to wear boots and gloves all day, which gets sweaty but it’s necessary for what we do. The office is just a small corner with a couple of desks and a phone that rings more than it should. We get a lot of deliveries from the big tankers and that usually blocks the driveway for an hour or so. Our neighbors are alright, we all help each other out if someone needs a tool or an extra hand with something heavy. It’s a practical environment without any decorations or fancy stuff on the walls. We just focus on getting the ratios right and making sure the containers are sealed properly. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs to go out the next morning. It’s a tiring job but it feels good to see the trucks driving away with everything loaded up correctly. That is just a normal day for us here.
