Dress Materials

We are located at 31-32-33 Saranam-3, which is basically right opposite Anupam Cinema in Khokhara. It is a busy spot, especially when a new movie comes out and the whole street gets blocked with bikes and people. Inside the shop, we have piles of dress materials everywhere. It’s mostly unstitched stuff, so people come in to pick out what they like for their suits. I spend a lot of time untangling rolls of fabric or helping someone find a specific shade of blue that matches a dupatta they already have. The lighting in here isn’t the brightest, but we have some big tube lights that do the job. My hands are usually dusty from handling the cotton all day. It gets quite warm in Khokhara, so we keep the ceiling fans on full speed. Often, the customers are local women who live in the apartments nearby. They know exactly what they want, which makes it easier. Sometimes we just sit and talk while they look at the prints. It’s a lot of work at Dress Materials to keep the shelves from looking like a mess because once someone pulls a piece from the bottom, everything else slides down. We just put it back and wait for the next person. Opposite the cinema, there's always something happening, so it’s never really boring. It’s just how we run things here. There is always a lot to do before we close up for the night.
