Kalarav Neonatal & Children Hospital

Kalarav Neonatal & Children Hospital is over at F-26 in the Surjeet Society area of Bapu Nagar. Since we focus on babies and kids, the hospital sounds a lot different than a regular one. There is usually some crying or the sound of cartoons playing on a phone in the waiting room. The walls have some stickers on them to make it look a bit more friendly for the little ones, though they are starting to peel at the edges. Being in a society like Bapu Nagar means we are surrounded by houses. It feels more like a community spot than a big institution. We have incubators for the tiny babies and small beds for the older children. The nights can be really long here, especially when a baby is fussy or needs constant watching. Our nurses are used to having very little sleep. We keep a lot of toys around, but they always seem to go missing or end up under the chairs. The space is a bit tight, especially when parents and grandparents all come at once. We don't have a big fancy sign, just a simple one so people can find the unit. It is hard work looking after kids, but we have been doing it here for a while now. Every day is different, and we just take it as it comes.
