We’ve been here at Shop No. 4 for a good while now, right across from the Ranjit Petrol Pump in Mirzapur. It’s a busy spot, mostly because people pull in for gas and then realize something is rattling or leaking under the hood. Most days start pretty early before the sun gets too high and makes the shop like an oven. We usually have a few cars lined up before the shutters even go up. My hands are almost always covered in oil by ten in the morning, which makes it hard to eat lunch without scrubbing for ten minutes. The shop isn't fancy at all. There’s some old chairs for people to sit while they wait, and the fan in the corner makes a bit of a clicking noise, but it keeps the air moving. We deal with all sorts of engine troubles and routine stuff that needs doing. Sometimes the traffic outside gets really loud, especially with the trucks coming through, but you get used to it after a few years. People from around the neighborhood know where to find us. We keep our tools organized, more or less, though the 10mm wrench always seems to go missing right when you need it most. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the sign out front and the word of mouth from folks who’ve been coming here since we opened.
