We’ve been here at the Panchdhara Complex for a while now. Most people know us because we’re right near the Grand Bhagwati Hotel on S G Road. It’s a busy spot in Bodakdev. Most mornings start with unlocking the shutters and checking the schedule for the day. We deal with cars, mostly just keeping things running. Some days the floor gets pretty oily and it’s loud with the tools going, but that is just how it is. It’s not a quiet office job. We see a lot of the same faces from around the neighborhood. People drop their keys off, maybe complain about a noise in the engine, and we get to work. It’s straightforward. We don’t have a fancy lounge with free snacks, just some chairs and a desk where we handle the registration and service books. The traffic on S G Road can be a nightmare during rush hour, so we try to get things done before the sun goes down. Sometimes the parts don't arrive on time, or a repair takes longer than we thought it would. That’s the reality of working with machines. We just keep moving through the list of cars parked out front. It’s a job like any other, focused on bolts, nuts, and making sure the wheels keep turning for the folks in Ahmedabad. We close up when the work is done and head home, ready to do it again tomorrow.
