Guganram Satnarain

You can find Guganram Satnarain over at 184-2 in the New Cloth Market. We are located just outside the Raipur Gate area, which is always busy. It is a very traditional part of the city and the market is always full of life and people shouting. We deal with fabrics and textiles, which means our space is usually filled with rolls of cloth stacked up all the way to the ceiling. It can be a bit of a maze sometimes when we are looking for a specific pattern or a certain material for a customer. There are always people walking through the narrow alleys and the sound of bells from the nearby gate. We start early in the morning when the fresh stock arrives on the carts. The atmosphere here is very local and informal. We sit on the floor sometimes to go over the accounts or show samples to a visitor who drops by. We don't really do the whole modern office thing with cubicles. Our desks are made of old wood and we use physical ledgers for most of our tracking. It's just how things have been done here for a long time. The lighting isn't always perfect inside, but we know the feel of the fabric by hand anyway. Sometimes we share some tea with the neighbors while waiting for a delivery. It's a community of traders and we are just one small part of it.
