If you go opposite Maskati Market and find Ghasiram Chambers, we are right there at No. 469/5. Being near the market means it’s always chaotic outside with rickshaws and people carrying bundles of cloth. Our space is right in the middle of all that action. We deal with fashion fabrics, so we see a lot of different colors and patterns coming through our doors every week. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we often have to take the fabric near the window to see the true shade of the dye. It’s a lot of lifting and shifting. My back usually aches by the time we close up. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and some pens that always seem to go missing. It’s not a polished corporate office; it’s a place where work actually gets done. Sometimes we have tea with the guys from the shop next door while we wait for a delivery. We check the fabric for any holes or weird spots before we sell it. If we find something wrong, we set it aside. It’s just the daily routine of checking stock and talking to traders who come by looking for specific prints. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy moving fabric to worry about that.
