Free India Foundry

Free India Foundry is tucked away in the Ajay Industrial Estate over in Dudheshwar. If you know the area, you know it’s mostly small workshops and a lot of noise. Our place at A/3 is no different. It’s a foundry, so it’s naturally a bit messy and there is always some heat coming off the furnaces. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building shows its age, but it works for what we do. We mostly deal with casting and metal stuff. It’s the kind of job where you go home with dirt under your fingernails every single day. My dad started things off, and a few of us have just kept it going. We don’t have a marketing department or even a real secretary most of the time. Usually, if the phone rings, one of the guys on the floor just wipes his hands and picks it up. Dudheshwar can be a crowded place with all the trucks moving in and out, but we like the energy of it. It’s a real working-class neighborhood. We don’t try to pretend to be something we aren't. We just take the orders, pour the metal, and make sure the parts are ready when people come to pick them up. It’s a simple routine, day in and day out. Sometimes the machines act up, and we spend the afternoon fixing them ourselves. That’s just life at the foundry.
