Comfort Outfits

We are based out in Buniadpur, which is in the Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal. It’s a bit of a distance from the big cities, but we like it that way. Our work involves making and selling different kinds of outfits. The pace of life here is a bit slower than in places like Kolkata. We have a small workspace where we keep the fabric and the sewing machines. You can usually hear the hum of the motors running for most of the day. It’s a family-style environment here. We have piles of cloth in different colors stacked up against the walls. Some days are spent just cutting patterns and other days we are busy finishing up orders for local customers. The weather can get pretty humid, so we keep the fans going at full speed. We’ve been doing this for a while now. Most people in the area know where to find us. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s just a practical space where the work gets done. Sometimes we run out of a certain thread and have to wait for the next delivery to come in from the city. That is just how it goes here. We take pride in just making sure the clothes fit right and look decent for whoever is wearing them. It’s a simple life, focused on needles and thread. We are just local people making clothes for other people in our community.
