Clement Desouza

This shop has been sitting across from the Sikh Gurudwara on Balwatika Road for many years. Most people in Maninagar just know it as the place to get tailoring done. It is called Clement Choice on the sign, though the name on the papers is Clement Desouza. We have the cloth stores right here too. You can pick out a fabric and then talk to us about what you want made. It is a bit crowded inside with all the rolls of cloth and the half-finished suits hanging up on the walls. We do not have those fancy automated systems you see in big malls. It is all hand measurements and chalk marks. My hands are usually covered in thread or dust from the materials. Being near the Gurudwara means there are always people walking by, so it is a good spot. We have locals who have been coming to us since they were kids, and now they bring their own children for school uniforms or wedding clothes. We do standard tailoring, nothing too flashy, just clothes that fit right. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and we take a quick break, but otherwise, we are at the machines or the cutting table. Maninagar is a busy place, and we just fit right into the neighborhood. It is a simple life for us. We keep the shop open late most days to make sure everything is ready for the customers who need their clothes by the morning.
