M. M. Garments

You can find us at Abhishek Complex-2 in Haripura, right near the Asarwa Bridge on Civil Road. Our place is unit A/221. The area is always crowded with traffic because of the bridge and the hospital nearby. Our workshop is where we do all the stitching and finishing for the clothes we make. We have several sewing machines lined up, and the sound of them running is what you hear as soon as you walk in. It’s a bit cramped with all the fabric scraps and thread cones lying around the floor. We make all sorts of garments, mostly for local shops in the city. We have a few tailors who have been with us since we started this whole thing. They are really fast with their hands. Sometimes we have to stay late into the night to finish a big order before a festival or a wedding season. The lighting in the back could be better, but we make do with what we have for now. It’s a family-run thing, so everyone chips in where they can, even with the packing. We don't have a marketing department or a salesperson. We just show our samples to the shopkeepers and they tell us what they want for their customers. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. The tea man comes around twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a short break. It’s not a glamorous life, but we take pride in the clothes we send out.
