Amul Dairy

This Amul Dairy is right by the Swami Vivekanand Circle in Memnagar, so you can imagine the kind of traffic we deal with every single day. It’s one of those spots where you can hear the rickshaws and cars constantly circling around outside. The shop itself is pretty straightforward. We have the big deep freezers lined up against the wall and the milk pouches stacked in the back. There isn't much room for people to stand around, so it’s usually a quick in-and-out kind of thing for most folks. We spend a lot of our time just restocking the shelves because things go pretty fast around here. The floor is made of that old tile that’s hard to keep looking brand new, but we scrub it down every night. It’s just me and a couple of others most of the time, making sure the temperature stays right so nothing goes bad. We don't have a big sign or anything too flashy, just the name on the front that everyone knows. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to scramble to keep things cold, which is always a bit of a headache. It's just a normal neighborhood dairy shop where we know a lot of the faces that come through the door. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It is just about keeping the fridge full and the lights on until closing time.
