Stonecrafts International

We are located at Plot No -28/48 on the Gokulpura Main Road, right near Agra College. Being so close to the college means there are always students walking by and plenty of rickshaws making noise. Our workshop is usually covered in a thin layer of white dust because we work with stone all day long. It gets everywhere—in our hair, our clothes, and even our tea if we aren't careful. I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager, learning from the older men who worked in Gokulpura. It’s a tough job and my back hurts most evenings, but seeing a finished piece makes it okay. The name Stonecrafts International sounds a bit grand, but really it’s just a few of us in a crowded space with hammers and chisels. We don't have fancy showrooms. If you come by, you'll see us sitting on low stools or on the floor, working on blocks of marble or soapstone. The main road is always busy, so we have to shout sometimes to hear each other. We get our stone from different places and sometimes it’s hard to get the good quality stuff. We just do our best with what we have. It’s a simple life here near the college. We start our day when the sun comes up and stop when the light gets too dim to see the fine details on the stone.
