Patni Craft & Furnishing

Our place is over at number 6/94 in Belanganj. If you have ever walked through the lanes here, you know it is a bit of an old-school commercial area with a lot of history. Patni Craft & Furnishing is mostly just a large warehouse and a small front area where we keep some of the samples for people to see. It smells like wood and heavy fabric in here most days. We spend a lot of our time moving chairs and big rolls of material around the floor. It is very physical work. My family started something similar years ago, and we just kept going in this same spot. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of white paint, but we are usually too busy with the day-to-day orders to worry about things like that. Belanganj gets really crowded in the late afternoons, so getting a rickshaw or a delivery truck in here is always a bit of a headache for the drivers. We know most of the other shopkeepers on this block. Sometimes we sit outside on wooden stools when the shop is quiet and the sun isn't too hot. We don't have a fancy website or anything; people usually just find us by word of mouth or by walking past the shop. It is a dusty job, and your hands get dirty, but it feels good to see a finished piece of furniture go out the door. We just try to stay steady.
