Baba Carpets

Our shop is at 80/806 in Gokulpura, right on M.G. Road. It’s an old building and we’ve been here for quite a few years now. Carpets are everywhere in the shop, stacked up high. Sometimes it’s hard to even see the walls. We have all kinds of patterns and sizes. It’s a bit of a maze inside. People come in and we start unrolling things so they can see the full design. It’s heavy work, moving those big rolls around all day. M.G. Road is always busy, so there’s a lot of noise from the street. We get customers from all over, some looking for something cheap for a small room and others wanting something more detailed. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people seeing the carpets hanging out front. The air in here always smells a bit like wool and dyes. We spend a lot of time talking to folks about how to clean their rugs. It’s a simple business. My brother and I run the place. We don't have fancy titles or anything. We just open up in the morning, sweep the front, and wait for customers. Sometimes it’s slow, especially when it’s too hot for people to be out shopping. But we’ve been here long enough that people know where to find us when they need a new floor covering. We close up when it gets dark and start again tomorrow.
