We have been at Rashmi Palace on the Bye Pass Road for quite some time now. Kamla Nagar is a busy area, especially with the Sultan Ganj Crossing nearby. The shop is usually full of metal pieces and the smell of welding. It gets pretty hot in here during the summer months but we just keep the fans going and get through the day. People come to us when they need something made from iron or steel. Most of the time it is gates or window grills, but sometimes it is smaller stuff. My father started this and now I help run things along with a few others who have been with us for years. We don't have a big fancy office or anything. There is just a desk with a lot of papers and some old chairs for when people want to sit down and talk about what they need. The noise from the road is always there in the background. Sometimes the traffic at the crossing gets backed up and we see the same cars sitting there for ages. We open up early in the morning and usually stay until the sun goes down. It is hard work and our hands are always dirty from the grease and the metal dust. We just do what needs to be done. It is not always perfect, but we try to make things that last. Most people in this part of Kamla Nagar know where we are.
