Looms & Rugs Inc.

You can find us at 33/42, Adarsh Nagar, along Rakabganj Road. The building is an older one, and you can hear the sounds of the road all day long. Looms & Rugs Inc. is basically what it says on the door. We spend our days surrounded by heaps of fabric and different types of yarn. There is always that specific smell of wool and dust in the air, which you get used to after a few minutes. We have a few looms set up, and they take up a good chunk of the floor space. It’s not a quiet place because there is usually someone moving something or a machine running. We aren't a massive factory, just a local spot where we put things together. The lighting isn't the best in the back, so we have to use extra lamps when we’re checking the patterns. We’ve got stacks of rugs leaning against the walls, waiting to be sent out. Most of the folks working here have been doing this for years, so they know the threads by feel. It’s hard work on the hands, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We usually wrap things up by six and head home. It’s a straightforward business, no frills or big corporate meetings, just making rugs and keeping the looms moving. We keep the side door open for fresh air when the heat gets to be too much.
