Down in Vill. Dulehra, which is quite close to Fatehpur Sikri in Agra, you’ll find Lachit Agricultural Farm Producer Company Limited. We use a space at Himmat Singh’s place. Living and working in a village means you’re always tied to the weather and the soil. We aren't some big city outfit. Most of us grew up here and we know these fields like the back of our hands. We decided to put this company together so we could work as a group instead of everyone just doing their own thing separately. It makes more sense when you’re trying to sell what you grow. Agra gets really hot in the summer, so we usually start our work very early before the sun gets too high. Himmat Singh has been a big part of getting everyone organized. We sit under the shade sometimes and talk about the prices of seeds or how the crops are looking this season. There is always something to fix, like a fence or a tool that’s seen better days. We don't have a website or anything like that. If you want to find us, you just come to Dulehra and ask for the farm producer group. We’re usually around somewhere near the main house. It’s hard work, but it’s what we’ve always done. We just do it under a formal name now to make things official with the paperwork and the government rules. It keeps us busy all year.
