Choudhary Readymade & Cosmetic Store

Our shop, Choudhary Readymade & Cosmetic Store, is found on Jalesar Road in the Tedi Bagia section of Agra. We decided to sell both clothes and beauty products because they seem to go well together. It’s mostly simple everyday wear and basic cosmetics that people in this neighborhood look for. We have a few racks for the clothes and then glass counters for the bangles, bindis, and creams. The shop isn't huge, so we have to be careful about how much we buy at once. Tedi Bagia is a lively place with lots of families. Often, mothers come in with their daughters to look at the new stock we’ve brought in. I try to find things that are affordable but look nice. Sometimes the colors of the clothes fade a little if I leave them in the front window for too long, so I have to rotate the display. It’s just me and a cousin who helps out during the evenings. We don't have a big brand name or anything, just the sign above the door. Jalesar Road is always full of traffic, but we have a loyal group of customers from the nearby streets. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. If someone likes a shirt, they buy it. Dealing with the different sizes and styles is a bit of a challenge in a small space, but we manage. It’s a steady business and we like being here in Agra. Most people know our family name around here.
