About Bombay Cloth House – Fashion & Trends in Agra
We have been here at 31 New Raja Mandi for a good while now. The shop is tucked in right near the Canara Bank, so most people use that as a landmark when they are looking for us. It’s a busy part of town and there is always something going on outside on the street. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of cloth and rolls of different fabrics leaning against the walls. We spend a lot of our day just moving things around to make space or showing people different patterns when they walk in. It’s not a fancy place with big lights or anything like that, but it does the job. My desk is usually covered in scraps and measuring tapes that never seem to stay in one place. Sometimes the noise from Raja Mandi gets a bit loud, especially during the festival seasons when everyone is out shopping, but we’re used to it. The shelves are pretty high, so I’m often on a ladder reaching for stuff at the top. We try to keep things organized, but when it gets busy, rolls of cloth end up everywhere. It’s just how a cloth house works I guess. I usually start the morning by sweeping the floor and dusting the front counter because the road dust settles on everything. It's a simple life here at the shop, just keeping track of the inventory and making sure we have what people are asking for when they come by the bank.
