Shantha Transport

You can find us over at 3-70 Biloli Lokeshwaram where we run Shantha Transport. It’s mostly just a few trucks and a lot of driving. We spend most of our lives looking through a windshield at the roads around here. The trucks are kept in the yard when they aren't out on a delivery. It’s a lot of work keeping those engines running right because the roads can be quite rough on them. We carry all sorts of things, whatever people need moved from one village to another. It’s not a fast business, you have to be careful with the loads so nothing breaks. Sometimes the traffic in Biloli gets backed up and we just have to sit there and wait it out. There’s no point in getting frustrated about it. My family stays at the house while the drivers and I are out on the routes. We eat our meals at roadside stalls and sleep in the cabs when we have to. It’s a tiring job but it keeps us going. We don’t bother with big signs or anything. People just know the trucks and they know where 3-70 is. The weather can be a problem, especially when the monsoon hits and the roads get muddy and slick. We just take it slow. It’s about getting the goods there in one piece, not about being the fastest. Every day is the same routine of checking the tires and hitting the road. We’re just local people doing our bit.
