Ramesh Kirana Shop

My shop is right here on Sitapathin Road in Ward 18 of Balaji Nagar. Most of the people in Kagaz Nagar know me just as Ramesh, and they come by for their daily groceries. I carry the usual things like rice, lentils, oils, and some snacks for the kids. It’s a small shop, so the shelves are packed from the floor to the ceiling. I try to keep everything someone might need for their kitchen so they don't have to go all the way to the bigger markets. The mornings are usually the busiest when people are getting stuff for breakfast or lunch boxes. I've been behind this counter for a lot of years now and I’ve seen the kids in the neighborhood grow up and start coming in with their own children. It’s a simple life, opening up early and closing late in the evening. I don't have any employees, just me and sometimes my nephew helps out when I need to go get more stock. We have a small stool for people to sit on if they want to chat for a minute while I bag their items. The street outside can get a bit noisy with the scooters, but inside it’s just the smell of spices and tea. I don't do any fancy marketing, just keep the doors open and make sure I have what people are looking for. It’s a good living and I like talking to my neighbors every day.
