M Ramesh Tent House

If you ever have a function or a wedding coming up in Maruguda, you’ve probably seen us around. M Ramesh Tent House is my small business, and I run it right out of my place in the village, which is part of the Jamini panchayat in Jainad mandal. We have stacks of poles, colorful fabrics, and chairs piled up, ready to be loaded onto the trailer whenever someone has a celebration. It’s a lot of physical work, hauling heavy stuff and climbing up to tie the ropes just right. We don’t use any fancy computer programs to design things. We just go by what we’ve learned over the years and what the family wants for their event. Sometimes it’s a small prayer meeting and other times it’s a big wedding that takes us all day to set up. We’ve had to work through some pretty heavy rain and wind before, which makes it tough to keep the tents standing, but we always find a way. Being in a small village like Maruguda means your reputation is everything. If the tent looks messy, everyone will talk about it. So, we just try to do a solid job and make sure the chairs are clean. We don’t have a big office or anything like that. People just walk over to my house in Jamini when they need to talk about their plans. It’s a busy life, but it’s good to be part of the local festivals.
