P. K. ENGINEERING & FABRICATORS has been operating out of M-13 in the Industrial Area for several years now. It’s a loud place because we are always cutting metal or welding something together. The floor is usually covered in iron filings and dust, but that’s just the nature of fabrication work. We deal with a lot of different projects, some big and some small, depending on who walks through the door. Being in the Industrial Area means we are surrounded by other workshops, so there is always the sound of hammers and machines in the background. We don't have a fancy reception area. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us in greasy overalls near the back. We use a lot of heavy machinery and sometimes the old lathe acts up, so we have to spend time fixing that instead of working on the orders. It's just a regular workshop where we try to get things built correctly. The sun hits the metal roof pretty hard in the afternoon, making it quite warm inside. We usually have tea together at four o'clock to take a break from the noise. It’s a simple setup at M-13. We just focus on the drawings and the steel. Most of our days are spent measuring twice and cutting once. It’s honest work and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time. There is always something that needs welding or a plate that needs bending.
