Vijaya Vanchar Fancy Kirana Store

Our shop is called Vijaya Vanchar Fancy Kirana Store. It’s located at number 12 in Shavukaru Peta, Palakol. This part of West Godavari is always very warm. We have a mix of things here. One side of the shop is kirana items like rice and spices, and the other side has fancy things like ribbons and clips. It’s a bit of a strange mix but people like it. They can buy their cooking oil and something for their hair at the same time. The street outside is narrow. If two carts meet, nobody can move for five minutes. We hear a lot of shouting from the drivers. I spend a lot of my time weighing things out on the scale. The needle on the old scale wobbles a bit, but it’s still right. My hands are usually dusty from the flour or the soap powder. We have some glass jars for the sweets that the kids like. I have to keep them low so they can see. The roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains very hard, so we have to move the bags away from that corner. Palakol is a busy place and Shavukaru Peta is always full of life. We don't have fancy lights or signs. It's just a regular shop with a lot of stuff inside. My family has been doing this for a long time. We just open up and wait for the first customer.
