We’ve been sitting here at 27/18 in East Patel Nagar for a good while now. It’s one of those spots where you always hear the traffic outside, but you sort of get used to it after the first week. Most days, we’re just hunkered down over our desks dealing with all the international stuff that comes through the door. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular office with too many papers and a coffee machine that sometimes acts up when you need it most. People walk by the window all day long heading to the market, and sometimes we look out and wonder where they’re all going in such a hurry. My desk is right by the corner, so I get the draft from the door whenever someone comes in. We do a lot of back-and-forth communication with people all over, which means the phones are usually ringing or someone is typing away like their life depends on it. It’s a busy atmosphere, but we keep it pretty low-key. We don’t really do big meetings or anything like that; we just talk across the room when something needs to get done. The neighborhood has changed quite a bit since we first started out here, but this building stays pretty much the same. We like being in this part of town because everything you need is just a short walk away, even if the parking is a total nightmare most afternoons. It’s just how it is.
