We are located in Maya Puri Main Market, tucked away in Masjid Wali Gali No-5. If you know Mayapuri, you know it’s the place for all things metal. Our yard is usually a mess of iron rods, old car parts, and sheets of aluminum. It’s a loud place because of all the cutting and the sound of heavy things being dropped. We spend the whole day sorting through piles of scrap. My hands are almost always covered in grease or rust, and that is just how it is. We have a large scale to weigh the loads that come in on the back of small trucks. The alley, Gali No-5, is quite narrow, so things get a bit tight when we are loading. We are right near the masjid, so we hear the azaan five times a day which helps us keep track of time. We don't have a fancy office, just a small stool and a ledge where we keep our notebooks. We deal with all kinds of people, from local collectors to big factory buyers. The heat in the summer makes the metal very hot to touch, so we have to be careful. It’s hard, physical work and it gets very dirty, but we have been doing this for a long time. S S Scrap Works isn't anything fancy, just a practical scrap yard in a busy industrial market.
