S K Steel Furniture is located at Chankya Place in Mahendra Park-I, right on Pankha Road at number 22 A. Our shop is usually packed with all sorts of steel cabinets, desks, and chairs that we make right here. It’s hard to move around sometimes because we try to fit as much as possible on the floor to show people. The smell of paint and cut metal is always around. We spend our days either at the back working on a new piece or out front talking to someone who needs a new cupboard for their home. Pankha Road is always loud, and the dust from the street comes in whenever the door is open. We aren't a big showroom with fancy lighting; we are just a local shop where you can see the work being done. Sometimes the finishes aren't perfect, but the furniture is solid and meant to last a long time. We use old tools and a lot of manual labor to get things put together correctly. People from the neighborhood know us for these steel almirahs that everyone seems to need for their bedrooms. It’s a busy life, and our clothes are usually stained with grease or paint by the end of the shift. We just focus on building the stuff and getting it delivered to the local houses. It is a simple way to make a living and we stay busy with it.
