Our little IT company is over at D-98 in Uttam Nagar. It’s a residential-looking building but we have turned the space into an office where we work on software and technical stuff. Uttam Nagar is a very crowded place and the streets are always full of rickshaws and people moving about. We have our computers set up and there is usually a lot of talk about coding or fixing bugs going on. It’s not the kind of place with a big glass front or a receptionist. You just come up and we are there working at our stations. We have a small area where we keep the server and some extra cables. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the backup to kick in, which is just part of living and working in this part of town. We’ve been at D-98 for a while and the locals know us. We are just a group of people who know how to handle technology and we spend our hours looking at screens. It gets a bit cramped when we have a big project but we manage. There is a tea stall nearby that we visit a lot when we need a break from the monitors. It’s a basic office and we focus on getting the work done without any extra fluff. We usually have some spare monitors lying around and a few half-empty coffee mugs on the desks by the end of the day.
