Rao General Store

We spend most of our time here at 293, Jai Vihar in Najafgarh. It is just a regular shop where we keep things people need every day. The shelves are usually full of stuff, and sometimes it gets a bit crowded when the new stock arrives in the morning. We open up early because that is when the neighborhood starts moving. You can see the street from the front door, and there is always something going on outside in Jai Vihar. We have been in this spot for a while now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy sorting out the inventory to worry about that. It’s a simple setup with a counter and some racks. We know most of the people who walk through the door because they live right around the corner. Sometimes the fan makes a little noise when it’s hot, but we just get used to it. We keep track of everything in big notebooks. Dealing with suppliers takes up a lot of the afternoon, especially when the delivery trucks try to park on the narrow road. It is just honest work, keeping the place running and making sure everything is where it should be. The floor gets dusty by the end of the day, so we sweep up before locking the shutters. That is basically how things go here at Rao General Store. It is not fancy, but it works for us and the people nearby.
