Mahesh Singh

Mahesh Singh's place is right on the Rajouri Garden Main Road, at J 3 36. If you've ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how the traffic is. It never really stops, and the sound of horns is just part of the background here. The office is tucked away, and it’s not particularly big, but we’ve made it work for a long time. There is a lot of paper around, and the furniture is a bit mismatched because we bought things as we needed them over the years. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who drop in from the street. The main road is always changing, with new shops opening and old ones closing, but we’ve stayed put in this same spot. It gets very busy in the evenings when everyone is out shopping or going to the metro station nearby. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough space for everything we need to do, but we manage. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity; it’s just me and a couple of others handling the daily tasks. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If someone knocks, one of us just gets up and opens the door. It’s a very straightforward way of running things. We know the local chai wala and the guys at the parking lot. It’s just a regular life in a busy Delhi neighborhood.
