Adroit Leathers

Our little spot is Wz-226 in Madipur Village, not far from the post office. Madipur is a tight-knit place, and we’ve been part of the village fabric for quite a while. Our workspace is small and a bit crowded. We handle leather, so there’s always that distinct smell lingering in the air. We don't have big machines; it’s more about the hands-on work here. We spend hours cutting and checking the texture of the skins. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside and chat with the neighbors until it comes back on. It’s a very local way of doing business. We don't have a corporate office or a board of directors. It’s just a few of us making sure the leather is ready for whatever it’s going to be made into. The floors are uneven, and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but it doesn't bother us. We know where every tool is. Being near the post office is handy for sending out small samples, though most of our stuff goes out in big bundles. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living. We just show up, do the work, and look forward to the cup of tea at the end of the shift. The winter mornings are cold here, but we get the heaters going and start the day early. It’s a quiet life, mostly.
